Hello all,

Over the last few weeks there have been a number of occasions where the scheduled Person on Duty did not attend or arrange alternative cover.

It is crucial to the running of training sessions that a Person on Duty is present for the training session to go ahead. The duty rota requires an adult in addition to coaching or teaching staff to oversee the coaching/teaching session involving young people reducing the risks to both children and adults. This ensures someone is on hand for any emergency that might arise. In recent cases where the scheduled Person on Duty was not present another adult with a child swimming was able to stand in so the session proceeded but this will not always be the case. If there is no Person on Duty available the coaches are obliged to stop the session going ahead.

To quickly recap, Stephanie Holmes as Deck Secretary, is the committee member who organises the rota each month. Stephanie organises the schedule to spread the task amongst the families of each swimmer based on the sessions the swimmers are due to attend according to their squad group. It is not an easy job as some swimmers do not do certain days or sessions and Stephanie has to keep track of everyones availability and preferences, she deserves huge thanks for her work every month in putting it together. The rota is published here on ClubZap each month and also in the parents WhatsApp group. When it is published you need to scan the spreadsheet for your swimmer(s) name and note the dates and times you are rostered for. In the event that you are not able to make that slot you must try and make a swap with another family in your group. This can be done by posting a message in the WhatsApp group or by posting a message in the chat group on ClubZap for that session (i.e. Wednesday 7pm, Shannon). If you can not find a swap you must let Stephanie or the coach know if you do not get a reply on your request. The last thing anyone wants is for a session to be cancelled because cover was not organised in advance.

Thanks to all our members who have helped out as Person on Duty or as Gala Officials so far this year. The club is ran on a voluntary basis by its members for its members, we need everyone to do their bit!
