Hi Everyone,

The club is looking for a new Club Children's Officer (CCO) to join the committee. The current CCO has left the club as her child has given up swimming.

It's a crucial role within any club and the main responsibilities include advocating for safeguarding within the club, ensuring that the club maintains child centred policies in all its activities. The CCO should be a voice for young people within the club and should provide them with opportunities for expressing their views and opinions. The committee meets remotely once a month and the CCO would be expected to attend meetings.

The role also includes acting as a designated liaison person (DLP) for the club responsible for reporting concerns disclosures or allegations of abuse to the statutory authorities.

The CCO should have or be willing to obtain relevant safeguarding courses (1,2 and 3). These courses are available remotely from Swim Ireland. The club will be any cost involved in training. Garda vetting will also apply.

The role may be best suited to somebody who has experience of working with children.
