Well done to all our participating swimmers in the gala at UL this weekend. You all represented your club so well.
For many it was their first long course gala which can be a slightly daunting experience compared with the short course events. Getting up on the blocks and looking down 5 metres to the floor of the pool with 50 mtrs to the first turn would give anyone the heebie jeebies the first time you do it. So well done on showing so much courage and trusting in your own preparation.
We had a personal best practically every time we had a swimmer in the water and we also had plenty of swimmers who got Division 2 and Division 1 times.
We had a few who missed out because of illness or other circumstances. Don't worry your time will come, there will be other galas.
Thank you to all our volunteers, team managers and officials. Our children can't take part without your generosity. There are a lot of familiar faces among those volunteering and for future galas we will be hoping to spread the duties more widely among the parents in the club.
The biggest thank you is reserved for our coach Liam who spent two long days by the side of the pool dispensing encouragement and advice. This is something Liam does for free and you can see the benefit it has for all.
